Community Clean Up, 2018, #Trashtag Challenge, downtown Port Colborne.
A group of us joined the local Meridian Credit Union’s Community Clean Up on April 28th, taking a few hours out on a Sunday to pick up trash in the downtown area. Karrie Haynes, the Meridian’s assistant branch manager, is a keen meditator here at Stream and was a key organizer for this wonderful Spring event.
We had plenty of friendly comments, car horns honking and waving and thanking us, as we made our way along Clarence and Catharine Streets, picking up litter and cigarette butts. The folks at Market Cafe came out to thank us and offered free coffees or hot chocolate.
Thank you to everyone on the #streamteam who came out for the #trashtagchallenge and to those who wished they could. It feels great to give time, effort and love to our city.
For sure there’s some great metaphors here for training the mind. Tidy living space is a reflection of a tidy mind. Keeping our environment clean inside and out. 🙂
May all beings be peaceful. May all beings be happy. May all beings be free from suffering.
