Meditation Series

The joy of inner stillness

an 8-week meditation course

Wednesday Evenings | 7-8:30pm
September 5 – October 24, 2018
Stream Yoga + Meditation, 819 Weaver Rd, Port Colborne

Join us for an 8-week meditation series. In this early Autumn series we will emphasize cultivating a daily practice of relaxation, inner stillness and insight. We will consider the obstacles to our practice, and continue our exploration of the seven factors of enlightenment: mindfulness, investigation, energy, joy, relaxation, concentration and equanimity.

We will spend much of our time together in meditation, but leave time each session for a brief talk and for discussion and Q&A. You will be encouraged to spend time meditating at home between the weekly classes.

A simple joy is available to us any time that we can relax — regardless of our external conditions. In fact, learning to relax and be still may be the single most important thing we can do to improve our life, our relationships and ultimately our world.

Dates
September 5, 12, 19, 26, October 3, 10, 17, 24, 2018

Cost
$95 (includes HST) for the series (or $15 drop-in per class)

Pre-registration by email hello@gentlydownthestream.org or call/text Heather at 519.400.7862.

What to bring/wear?
If you have a meditation cushion or stool that you are accustomed to using, please bring it along. Bolsters, blankets, yoga mats and blocks are available at the studio. No special clothing is required, but it’s good to be comfortable, so please avoid restrictive clothing.

Can I drop in for one or two sessions only?
Yes! Classes are offered in a series but can also be considered to be ‘self-contained.’ Especially if you have come to previous series with us, and/or you are looking for a group of like-minded people to meditate with — it’s certainly appropriate to simply ‘come when you can.’ Drop-in fee is $15 (includes HST).

“The wonderful paradox about the truth of suffering is that the more we open to it and understand it, the lighter and freer our mind becomes. Our mind becomes more spacious, more open, and happier as we move past our avoidance and denial to see what is true. We become less driven by compulsive desires and addictions, because we see clearly the nature of things as they are.”
