Coming to Port Colborne starting in the first week of April 2018!
Yoga Truly, which has been a wonderful presence in our community on West Street for the past two years, is sadly having to close their Port Colborne studio at the end of March. They will be focusing their efforts on growing their main Grimsby location. I feel incredibly grateful that Claire, Lisa and Megan followed their hearts and brought their yoga to town to share with us. Their enthusiasm and sincere wish to bring joy and peace of mind/heart to others by teaching (and living and breathing!) their practice, has planted some wonderful seeds.
And the good news is, we’re undertaking to keep the Yoga Truly spirit alive, and continue offering yoga to the PoCo tribe!
Our beloved (and frankly effervescent!) teacher Megan Bennett has agreed to come to teach regular sessions! And I undertook and completed my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training at YT with Claire last year, and am excited for the opportunity to teach more asana practice, along with the meditations which I have been teaching for many years, previously in Guelph and now here in the Niagara region.
We’ve built a schedule of proposed classes, with times that will be familiar to those of you who practice on West Street. And the weekly meditation series will continue. We’re planning some mini-retreats and workshops too!
Please read through the details below to find out what we’re preparing. I will be updating this page and the overall gentlydownthestream.org website in the coming days and weeks to reflect our new adventure. I’ll add better links for registration and payment etc. Your feedback is welcome!
It’s a little bit different than how classes passes and memberships have been working so far. We’ll need a minimum of 6 yogis to commit to any of the class series in order to launch this full proposed schedule. Once that is up and running, we’ll have some spaces available for drop-ins, and for making up missed classes (initially this will be by reservation only). In time, we hope to build a community that can sustain a full drop-in schedule.
HOW TO RESERVE A SPACE
You can reserve a space yourself on an interactive calendar we’ve created over at Teamup here: https://teamup.com/ksxrt3w5nzih9njhme OR you can download the Teamup app iOS for your iPhone or for Android and then copy and paste in the access code: ksxrt3w5nzih9njhme. Choose the series you’d like to reserve and add your name and email to the first session of that series or to one of the Saturday workshops or mini-retreats! We’ll be in touch to confirm your reservation and make payment arrangements.
If you have questions or if you’d rather not deal with the calendar and would like to reserve a spot for any of the proposed series, simply call, text (numbers below) or email us at email@example.com. Everything is set to start the first week of April.
We want to meet your needs, so please let us know if you have suggestions! Your feedback is a part of this process. We hope you’ll join us in nourishing a vibrant and happy PoCo yoga community!!
The course is offered freely, and I would say jump in at Day 1 anytime – there’s no late to this party.
I love Adriene’s calm, centred, gentle approach, and am super grateful to have found such a great way to start 2018!
In her words: “Yoga is really the art of waking up. Getting back to the true you. It can be that simple. Yoga offers up a way for us to see a world that is working for you instead of against you.”

Living Yoga & Health, 102 Wyndham St. N., Guelph
Treat yourself to an afternoon of quiet contemplation. This workshop will alternate between movement and stillness, combining Hanna Somatic Education with periods of seated meditation. Instead of struggling to seat ourselves in traditional meditation postures, we will unwind and release both physical and mental tension through slow and subtle movements, allowing a calmness to arise that will naturally deepen concentration and awareness.
