Holding Lightly

a Day-Long Meditation Retreat
Saturday, October 13, 2018 | 9am–4pm
Stream Yoga + Meditation, 819 Weaver Rd, Port Colborne

Join us for a day retreat!

We will use basic buddhist practices of mindfulness and insight to investigate the nature of our experience. Our day will include periods of silent seated and walking meditations, instructions for practice (dharma), Q&A and discussion. Suitable for beginners and experienced meditators.

This workshop is designed as a ‘day-long intensive’ associated with the 8-week ‘The joy of inner stillness’ meditation series, but you do not have to have taken the 8-week series to attend the retreat.

Sessions will be lead by Jill Davey, who will be joining us from RiverSound Retreat in Fergus, Ontario, and Heather Fenton.

Registration fee: $35* (includes HST)
Lunch and refreshments included.
Please register by Oct 10th, so that we can plan appropriately.

Pre-register by email hello@gentlydownthestream.org or call/text Heather at 519.400.7862

* Your $35 registration fee covers lunch and the operating costs of the retreat. In the tradition of the Buddha, the teachers will offer instruction (dharma) freely and will be accepting donations. The practice of giving (dana) in this way happens on the side of the teacher when they share the teachings and their experience, and happens on the side of the student when they support the teachers, in accordance with their means. This practice also allows us to offer the retreat at an accessible cost. If the registration fee is still beyond your means, please let us know and we will do our best to arrange a scholarship.

Somatics + Yin Yoga Specialty Class

Saturday, October 27, 2018 | 10–11:30am
Stream Yoga + Meditation, 819 Weaver Rd, Port Colborne

Enjoy a special 90-min class with visiting instructor Sandi Beaupre.

Somatic Education and Yin Yoga are complimentary practices of mindfulness and attention. Somatic movement patterns are neuro-muscular re-education to help you regain control of your habitually tight muscles. These slow, controlled movements relieve pain, and increase flexibility, co-ordination, balance and performance. Somatics also prepares your body for yin yoga poses that challenge you to find stillness and softness during longer held positions. Yin typically targets the ligaments, joints and fascia from navel to knees and activate energy flow in the body. This focused practice is done mainly on the floor. Whether you are a desk worker, an athlete, a yogi, in chronic pain, recovering from injury or want free and easy walking, this will be a deep and rewarding practice.

Cost: $25 (includes HST)
Please register by Oct 24th so that we can plan appropriately.

Pre-register by email hello@gentlydownthestream.org or call/text Heather at 519.400.7862
