Rest + Restore Yoga Workshop

Saturday, November 17, 2018 | 9:30am–12:30pm
Stream Yoga + Meditation, 819 Weaver Rd, Port Colborne

Join Megan Bennett for a restorative half-day workshop.

Shorter days and longer nights are upon us. And as the busy-ness of the holiday season begins we may find ourselves straying from our routine — becoming overly busy, and then fatigued and depleted. Our yoga practice can be a source of stability, strength, balance and ease to carry us through.

In this workshop, we will explore combining playfulness and simple joy with the deep relaxation of restorative yoga. We’ll slow down together and connect with the natural, restful rhythm of the coming winter. After we rest, we’ll enjoy a light lunch and refreshments in the company of new and old friends.

Cost: $35 (includes HST)
Vegetarian lunch and refreshments included.
Please register by November 14th so that we can plan appropriately.

Pre-register by email hello@gentlydownthestream.org or call 905.401.YOGA (9642) or text Heather at 519.400.7862

Resonant Joy Half-Day Meditation Retreat

Saturday, December 8, 2018 | 9:30am–12:30pm
Stream Yoga + Meditation, 819 Weaver Rd, Port Colborne

In the end, the aim is to awaken a joyful freedom, a benevolent and compassionate heart in spite of everything.” – Jack Kornfield

During this half-day retreat we will explore basic buddhist practices of mindfulness and insight, with a focus on cultivating ‘resonant’ joy (mudita). Sometimes referred to as ‘sympathetic’ joy or ‘vicarious’ joy, mudita is the clear, peaceful, happy state of mind that arises when we rejoice in the happiness of others.

This half-day is designed to complement our regular Wednesday meditation series, and will include guided and silent meditations, a dharma talk (instructions for practice), Q&A and discussion. Please note, you do not have to have attended Wednesday evening sessions to attend the retreat.

Suitable for for all levels. Beginners are very welcome.

Sessions will be lead by Heather Fenton.

Registration fee: $20* (includes HST)
Vegetarian lunch and refreshments included.
Please register by Dec 5th, so that we can plan appropriately.

For more information or to pre-register: Email hello@gentlydownthestream.org or call 905.401.YOGA (9642) or text Heather at 519.400.7862

* Your $20 registration fee covers lunch and the operating costs of the retreat. In the 2,500-year-long tradition of the Buddha, the teacher will offer instruction (dharma) freely and will be accepting donations. The practice of giving (dana) in this way happens on the side of the teacher when they share the teachings and their experience, and happens on the side of the student when they support the teacher, in accordance with their means. This practice also allows us to offer the retreat at an accessible cost.

Begin Again | A Weekend Meditation Retreat

Thursday, January 17 – Sunday, January 20, 2019
Jericho House, 10845 Rathfon Rd, Port Colborne, ON L3K 5V4
with Jill Davey + Heather Fenton

A wonderful result of letting go is to experience each moment as being enough, just as it is. It allows us to be present for our experience here and now with such clarity and freedom that this very moment stands out as something profound and significant.” – Gil Fronsdal

Begin the new year with a quiet and curious exploration of what it’s like to be here, now — moment by moment — breathing, being, sensing, aware.

We spend so much of our lives caught up in stories that play out in our minds. Internally, we endure a constant stream of thoughts, feelings, fears, regrets, judgements. We easily become lost in the past, or in planning for the future, or fixating on our opinions — often resulting in criticizing and condemning ourselves and others.

What would it be like to be able to rest? To let go of our opinions? What if we practiced relaxing and showing up fully for what is happening right now? Could we learn to do this with fearlessness and grace?

This 4-day silent retreat will be structured using basic buddhist practices of mindfulness and insight, including periods of seated and walking meditation. You will be supported with instructions for practice (dharma), guided meditations, and periods of guided mindful movement (hatha yoga).

Suitable for all levels. Beginners are very welcome.
