Calming our Anxiety with Compassion
Find some immediate relief from anxiety, fear, worry or despair with this 16-min guided meditation practice. The first step in calming our anxiety is turning towards it, pausing, taking some deep breaths and beginning to investigate the experience. Anxiety is like a storm — it arises when the causes and conditions for it have accumulated. It’s not personal, it’s not permanent, and it can be dispersed and dispelled with compassion.
Heather Fenton combines 20+ years of Buddhist meditation training (both Mahayana and Theravada) with a lifelong interest in mental health and western psychology. Heather teaches with warmth, compassion and humour, offering practical and down to earth instruction that is rooted in ancient tradition.
You are invited to sit with Heather weekly on Wednesdays 7-8:30pm ET (Toronto/New York) in person or on zoom at our Insight for Living sessions.

Insight for Living
Insight for Living is a regular Wednesday evening class at Stream Yoga + Meditation, Port Colborne, led by Heather Finlayson Fenton. These weekly insight (vipassana) meditation sessions are designed to help you start and/or support a regular at-home meditation practice, and to learn or gain confidence with mindfulness habits that can transform your life. Suitable for new or experienced meditators.
The support of a community (sangha) of meditators is a key feature of our path to ‘awakening’ or ‘liberation.’ Benefits include: connection with others, accountability, shared wisdom, being inspired or inspiring others. Our Stream sangha has been meeting regularly on Wednesday evenings since March 2018.
If you are interested in attending, the sessions are Wednesday evenings and you can book (in person or online/zoom) through our Classes page. Although there is a fee associated with attending, no one will be turned away for lack of funds. If you need support, please ask.
We also take time for half-day, full-day and weekend retreats. Check our Workshops + Retreats page for upcoming events.
