Mantras are repetitive sounds used to penetrate the depths of the unconscious mind and adjust the vibration of all aspects of our being, physical, mental and emotional. The Mahamrityunjaya Mantra is chanted in Sanskrit, on the full moon, and is specifically used to overcome fear and any obstacles that we are facing.

Stream Yoga + Meditation, 819 Weaver Rd, Port Colborne

Join Heather Fenton and visiting instructor Julie Boyse of Journey 2 Balance, for this special edition of our Wednesday evening meditation class. We’ll be combining the paths of Buddhist Insight Meditation and the Bhakti Yoga tradition, in an evening of meditation and mantra.Beginning at 7pm, Heather will guide a meditation and give instructions (dharma) for cultivating clarity of heart and mind through Buddhist Insight Meditation. Heather’s approach is modern, simple, nondogmatic and practical; with a clear view to the ways in which we can use meditation and mindfulness to free our hearts and minds in the midst of our busy and stressful lives. There will be time for Q&A.

Following this, beginning just after 8pm, Julie will introduce the practice of chanting the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, a powerful mantra from the Bhakti Yoga tradition, used for cultivating peace and harmony, health and healing for ourselves and others. We will then chant the mantra together 108 times.

Friday, March 15, 2019 | 7–8:30pm
Stream Yoga + Meditation, 819 Weaver Rd, Port Colborne

Enjoy a special 90-min class with visiting instructor Julie Boyse of Journey 2 Balance.

Yoga nidra is a guided practice of deep relaxation into the liminal space between waking and sleeping. It is a more efficient and effective form of physiological rest and rejuvenation than sleep!

Traditionally, yoga nidra is practiced as a powerful method for releasing ourselves from our conditioned mental and emotional patterns (samskaras) — the psychological imprints or impressions that give rise to our repetitive thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

Class will begin with some gentle yoga, and then we will arrange ourselves laying down comfortably, with props and blankets, and be guided to conscious relaxation of the body and mind.

Cost: $25 (includes HST)
Please register by March 13th so that we can plan appropriately.

It teaches you how to free yourself from habitual stress responses and unhealthy holding patterns that inhibit your potential for free and easy movement.  It helps reverse chronic muscular pain by going to the root and affecting change at the central nervous system. The slow, mindful movement patterns will challenge your habits, and increase your awareness of self. Other benefits include improved posture, mobility, co-ordination, balance and stress resilience.

Begin Again | A Weekend Meditation Retreat

Thursday, January 17 – Sunday, January 20, 2019
Jericho House, 10845 Rathfon Rd, Port Colborne, ON L3K 5V4
with Jill Davey + Heather FentonA wonderful result of letting go is to experience each moment as being enough, just as it is. It allows us to be present for our experience here and now with such clarity and freedom that this very moment stands out as something profound and significant.” – Gil Fronsdal

Begin the new year with a quiet and curious exploration of what it’s like to be here, now — moment by moment — breathing, being, sensing, aware.

We spend so much of our lives caught up in stories that play out in our minds. Internally, we endure a constant stream of thoughts, feelings, fears, regrets, judgements. We easily become lost in the past, or in planning for the future, or fixating on our opinions — often resulting in criticizing and condemning ourselves and others.

What would it be like to be able to rest? To let go of our opinions? What if we practiced relaxing and showing up fully for what is happening right now? Could we learn to do this with fearlessness and grace?

This 4-day silent retreat will be structured using basic buddhist practices of mindfulness and insight, including periods of seated and walking meditation. You will be supported with instructions for practice (dharma), guided meditations, and periods of guided mindful movement (hatha yoga).

Suitable for all levels. Beginners are very welcome.
