When you look out into the world and see acts of violence, rage + outrage, fear, greed, meanness, dishonesty, confusion — do you understand that you are seeing expressed what is inside the minds of living beings? All conflict is an expression of agitated states of mind.

When we see this clearly, instead of feeling overwhelmed and shutting down, maybe we take up the invitation to heal our own agitated states of mind — our impatience, fear, craving, confusion etc. If we want peace in this world, it’s certainly not off the mark to take responsibility for our ‘own backyard’ first. Give what you want to get. Peace comes from peaceful minds. It’s an inside job.

Celebrate International Peace Day with us at HH Knoll Lakeside Park, Port Colborne, on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 7pm. We’ll enjoy a simple, guided meditation and when the sun goes down we will light candles to represent our wish for peace. This is a free, public, friendly gathering, promoting peace and well-being, one heart at a time.

Bring your family, some friends, and something to sit on (yoga mat, blanket, lawn chair).

World peace must develop from inner peace. Peace is not just mere absence of violence. Peace is the manifestation of human compassion.” ― Dali Lama

The International Day of Peace (“Peace Day”) is observed around the world each year on 21 September. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.

This year’s #peaceday celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Learn more at: https://internationaldayofpeace.org/ or https://www.un.org/en/events/peaceday/ #standup4humanrights
